Wendy SolidayWendy Soliday grew up in a family of artists. With pastel and watercolor as her media, her works capture the vibrant moment of life arrested. A Soliday landscape in evocative tones of blues and grays can engender a sense of the Vermont winter, while a dramatic palette in a warm tonality of reds and yellows portrays the power and dignity in the world of animals.
Commenting on the genesis of her art, Wendy Soliday says: “ When I was a small child, I watched a gold crayon melt. Sparkly flecks oozed over the cement sidewalk. The glitter and patterns of light in contrast with the dull grit awed me. Capturing a fresh or even odd look at the world is my delight and challenge in painting. We all often pause in amazement at the glorious light on the water, the blue of the mountains, the radiant amber fog that blankets the countryside. When I am stunned by what I see in life or in my dreams, I want to paint. As a result, I paint a lot. I like to work quickly to respond to whatever first captured me. It often feels like I am bursting.”
Wendy Soliday lives in Vermont with her husband, dogs, and cats. Her children, exchange students, guinea pigs, parakeets, turkeys, chickens, and pony have all flown the coop. Her nest is now full of paintings! Wendy’s artwork is widely held in numerous private collections throughout the United States.
